The brief was to re-design FCB, a leading global brand agency, regional office space with particular focus on liberating the way FCB staff work. A big part of this was to create a space where people could gather and meet and feel at home, a space that allowed for accidental meet ups, formal gatherings, casual working and planned celebrations.
The proposed solution was to focus a large portion of the budget on a ‘working’ reception area, that fulfilled all these functional requirements. Amenities included FCB’s own coffee shop and curated seating configurations with bespoke detail and surface treatments.
The light weight ceiling installation transposes multifaceted colours from the FCB brand CI into the space in a delightful and dynamic way. Given the great Johannesburg climate, an outdoor area was created to open up and extend the social reception space. The result is an environment that contributes to the daily tasks of FCB, but also cement the creative and social culture in a pragmatic way.
Ultimately, the design is a celebration of South African design, reflecting FCB as a leading creative agency not only in South Africa but also Africa.
